"I admit the deed! - tear up the planks! here, here! it is the beating of his hideous heart!" - Edgar Allan Poe, from "The Tell-tale Heart"

The Tell-tale Heart

A writhing almost chaotic spirited creation, this was further enhanced by Jim's nifty fake heartbeat that ominously has a presence (variably in the background) throughout most of this track. That helped bolster the feel of a work that surges along, with cataclysmic electronics and mind-boggling array of guitars and noise. As usual, the concept was adopted to the work afterwards, the more we heard it the more we could imagine Poe's derranged psychopath squirming, seeking for a place to hide!

Shuffled Perception Of The Brain Mass

Actually the first session of that hot and sticky summer night, this fragmented condensed version of the work follows a thematic progression in two different phases, as confusingly bizarre as the title suggests, yet also cohesive, with a poweful crescendo that's almost breathtakingly awesome.
