CON-HERTZ - FACE ON RADIO (AMC 016) CAS.

Release number 3,149 from Conrad Schnitzler. But I'm happy to report that this is one of the better ones. On this excellent release Con is joined by Wolfgang Hertz. Unlike some of Con's earlier collaborations this cassette is highly successful. What seems to have happened (and I could be totally wrong here), is that Wolfgang has taken the raw material from Con and then mixed and edited it, while not being afraid to alter the masters work. He has added his own effects to it, to create a wash of music. A music that flows, revealing dense atmospheres and landscapes as it travels on it's journey. This is most obvious on side l's 29 minute CHz1 which combines the best elements of Con's work to make music that while recalling CONAL and to a lesser extent CONTROL, is something totally coherent, with purpose, resulting in complete pleasure for the ears.

The 4 tracks on side 2 take us into more new and exiting territory. Added to Con's synths and sequencers and Wolfgang's atmospheres we now have radio and tape loops of voices, bringing a touch of the real world to the whole thing. This all adds up to one of the best releases from Conrad Schnitzler for a while and makes Wolfgang Hertz a name to look out for. And what's this - track titles?! What ever next? Hopefully a second Con-Hertz cassette soon.
