Review...
Inside the cover, I quote: In linguistics, morphology is the study of
words, how they are formed, and their relationship to other words in the same
language. In biology, morphology is the study of the form and structure of
organisms and their specific structural features, and (in explaining one of
the track titles): Cortical Mitocondria = something to do with "the
source of free radicals enhanced by gentamicin". Okay, this is all
rather eclectic and obscure, yet this was quite a strange session, with a lot
of gremlins in the works, and one that needed considerable post-production to
turn it into a cohesive album. I think I succeeded in doing so, with a rather
strange one that's largely atmospheric with a lot of sonic mutation.
Here we tend to feature Dave as the
soloist on either flute or hurdy gurdy, with Alan contributing most of the
synth and keyboard work, with Steve adding all the other unidentifiable
elements. Alan's use of the virtual sampler also strongly features, not least
in the use of Mellotron samples in Cortical Mitocondria. So, prepare for a
very different Triax, full of things you may expect and many more things that
you won't.
