Ever changing, growing and evolving, aptly Shapeshifter continue to live up to their name and shape-shift, now with a reasonably steady eight piece line-up! It's been fun playing live this past year and a half with them, and to see how we are moving steadily towards a more eccentric psychedelic music, especially since the addition of a violinist playing in excessive Simon House (Third Ear Band, Hawkwind) fashion. Recently we've played as support to Daevid Allen (yes, I can actually say I've been on stage with Daevid Allen!), along with Spacehead (featuring Graham Clarke and an ex-Krel bassist). It's a continuing adventure, and I wonder where we'll go next? Incidentally, Shapeshifter were recently judged "too marginal" for the tastes of the audience at the yearly Leicester Abbey Park Festival, so we're obviously doing something right! As Maureen so often says "If you thought that was weird, things can only get weirder!" and they often do. A recent fun experience was playing in a field on a warm summer evening in Ashton Flamville, with campers children wanting me to "make the spaceship take-off again!" If you get this Audion in time, note that Shapeshifter are playing at The Physio & Firkin, Leicester on Thursday 29 October.
